= Valgrind = == Description == This is an optional spkg. It supports Linux on x86, x86-64, ppc, ppc64 and ARM as well as Darwin (Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6) on x86 and x86-64. Valgrind is an instrumentation framework for building dynamic analysis tools. There are Valgrind tools that can automatically detect many memory management and threading bugs, and profile your programs in detail. You can also use Valgrind to build new tools. The Valgrind distribution currently includes six production-quality tools: a memory error detector, two thread error detectors, a cache and branch-prediction profiler, a call-graph generating cache and branch-prediction profiler, and a heap profiler. It also includes three experimental tools: a heap/stack/global array overrun detector, a second heap profiler that examines how heap blocks are used, and a SimPoint basic block vector generator. It runs on the following platforms: X86/Linux, AMD64/Linux, ARM/Linux, PPC32/Linux, PPC64/Linux, S390X/Linux, ARM/Android (2.3.x), X86/Darwin and AMD64/Darwin (Mac OS X 10.6 and 10.7). == License == Valgrind is Open Source / Free Software, and is freely available under the GNU General Public License, version 2. == SPKG Maintainers == * Tim Dumol * Ivan Andrus == Upstream Contact == * http://www.valgrind.org/ * valgrind-user, valgrind-devel mailing lists == Dependencies == * None == Special Build Instructions == * To build on OS X, you need to use Apple's GCC. === Patches === * glibc.patch: support glibc versions posterior to 2.16, taken from upstream commits r13228 and r13504. == Changelog == === valgrind-3.8.1.p0 (Jean-Pierre Flori, 7 October 2013) === * #13060: support glibc 2.17 and 2.18. === valgrind-3.8.1 (Jean-Pierre Flori, 24 December 2012) === * #13060: update Valgrind to version 3.8.1. === valgrind-3.7.0 (Ivan Andrus, February 16th, 2012) === * update to 3.7.0 * removed call to autoreconf * changed `make` to `$MAKE` === valgrind-3.6.1 (Ivan Andrus, March 23rd, 2011) === * update to 3.6.1 * Add support for OS X 10.5 and 10.6 * No longer need to patch configure.in since support was added upstream === valgrind-3.5.0.p0 (Tim Dumol, December 23rd, 2009) === * Update to 3.5.0 release === valgrind-3.3.1 (Michael Abshoff, September 15th, 2008) === * update to 3.3.1 release * stop build on Itanium boxen * add custom suppression file for Sage === valgrind-3.3.0 === * update to 3.3.0 release * create proper SPKG.txt * check for Linux, exit on other platforms === valgrind-3.3.0svn_omega-r7025 (Michael Abshoff) === * update to 3.3.0svb-r7025 * merge experimental omega tool === valgrind-3.3.0svn-r6959 (Michael Abshoff, Oct. 8th, 2007) === * update to 3.3.0svn-r6959 === valgrind-3.3.0svn-r6814 (Michael Abshoff) === * Initial version: 3.3.0svn-r6814
